In Story Mode, Octavo used the Golden Lute used to put [[Link]], [[Zelda]], and the rest of [[Hyrule]] to sleep. After collecting all four instruments and navigating [[Hyrule Castle]], Link and his friends confront Octavo, who uses the instruments and the Golden Lute itself as his weapons. After the player defeats Octavo, a portal appears, sucking in the Golden Lute (judging by the fact that the portal bears a strong resemblance to the portal to [[Future Hyrule]], it is reasonable to assume [[Ganon]] stole the lute). The Golden Lute is never seen again in this mode. Afterwards, Octavo runs off to confront Ganon without his lute, and falls in battle, leaving the bearers of the [[Triforce]] to vanquish Ganon once and for all.
