Link Echo is a recurring mini-boss in Echoes of Wisdom.
Echoes of Wisdom
The echo of Link appears as a mini-boss in the Suthorn Ruins, Gerudo Sanctum, and the Eldin Temple. Each battle is different, with Link using the Mysterious Sword while in Suthorn Ruins, the Bow while in Gerudo Sanctum, and Bombs in the Eldin Temple. After defeating Link each time, Zelda is able to gain Link's abilities and utilize them when in Swordfighter Form.
Suthorn Ruins
When traveling through the Suthorn Ruins, Zelda and Tri will come across the Link Echo. Tri mistakes the echo for the real Link, who battled Ganon during the game's prologue.[1]
The Link Echo carries the Mysterious Sword along with the Hylian Shield. Link will walk around, using the sword to slash, while also using the shield to defend himself from attacks. During his second phase, Link will begin to use the Spin Attack to clear all enemies around him.
After Link is defeated, he will drop his Mysterious Sword and vanish.[2] Zelda is able to retrieve it, which gives her the Swordfighter Form ability. This temporarily allows Zelda to swing a sword, as long as she has sufficient Energy.
Strategy
As Link is constantly using his shield to block, most of Zelda's echoes will not be able to land attacks directly. Zelda will need to distract Link with multiple echoes and attacks at the same time. Zelda can use a Caromadillo Echo in front of Link, which will cause Link to chase after it. While Link is focused on the Caromadillo, Zelda can use a Rock Echo and then lift a Rock to toss it towards Link. Zelda can also toss one of the Pots that are already in the room. If Zelda doesn't have a Caromadillo, she can still distract Link with other echoes, such as the Spear Moblin Echo, a Keese Echo, or an Ignizol Echo.
Alternatively, Zelda can summon a Darknut Echo in front of Link, and while Link is focused on the particular echo, Zelda can walk around and summon another Darknut Echo immediately behind him. This will despawn the initial Darknut, but if the new echo is summoned closely enough, the Darknut will already be wound up to attack and can deliver a strike. Link at times is quick to react and may turn around and damage the echo, as well as Zelda if she's too close.
During the second phase of the battle, a purple fog covers Link and he becomes much more aggressive. He now wears a blue tunic instead of his normal green tunic. He'll charge towards Zelda and will perform a spin attack. The strategy to defeat Link still remains the same. However, since Link is much more aggressive, he sometimes leaves his shield down in this second phase. If Zelda has a Peahat Echo, she can use it to attack Link.
