Why Does Link Wear Tights?

Did You Know Gaming?, a popular video game trivia site has recently released a Zelda related fact, holding the answer to one of the gaming communities greatest questions: why does Link wear tights? There has been theories onto why he wore tights, from it being based off medieval style fashion, to it is simply a weather resistant body suit. Well the answer is finally here.

Well there you have it! Its because he looked too cool for school. Don’t believe Did You Know Gaming?’s claim. Well they have a Link to their source, Iwata Asks, a series of interviews by Nintendo’s president, Satoru Iwata. Yoshiaki Koizumi, the games designer states himself in an interview about Ocarina of Time 3D:
“He wears that green tunic and cool gloves, but underneath, it’s long underwear. (laughs) But when I saw Link on the Nintendo 3DS version, I was pleased by how incredibly refined he looked. So I want everyone to check out that even cooler Link!”
