Daily Debate: What Zelda-Themed Greeting Would You Include in a Valentine’s Day Card?

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. Big props to L-O-V-E! Here in the States, late winter and spring are pretty quiet when it comes to holidays. And bleak. Big parts of the country are still muddling through the cold, so it’s fun to be distracted by the warmth of romance and friendship. Maybe that’s why Valentine’s captures the imagination.
By the time my school teachers stopped offering Valentine exchanges, my parents were encouraging me to write my own greetings in things like birthday and thank you cards. It’s a sentiment that easily translated to more fun and rewarding Valentine’s gifts as I hit that distinctly stressful phase in life where you have to pick who gets your valentines. No more counting on the whole class swapping caramel apple suckers and single sticks of gum. But that was okay. By then I was already slave to a good pun, and had more fun writing a clever line or two than taping a treat to a square of cardboard.
So for today’s debate, let’s come up with some punny, Zelda-inspired Valentine’s greetings we can use on the Anjus and Kafeis in our lives. How about “You Octorok my world!” Here’s one for Zelda and The Simpsons fans: “I ChuChu choose you!”
We could even take inspiration from in-game characters. Maybe little brother Sidon would tell Mipha that he’s “always fishing for her attention.” Or Ganon to his hordes: “Seeing your evil deeds makes me feel so blighthearted!”
I know, these are groaners. But I love it. Here’s one more to kick things off: “It’s Hylian likely I could ever leave you!”
Oof. I’m sure you can do better! What would you write in a Zelda Valentine’s Day card? Give us some puns that are sure to make our valentines Tingle. Hit us with them in the comments below!
