The Wind Waker HD Sand Castle

Seeing that the land in The Wind Waker is really a collection of islands, what better way to celebrate The Wind Waker HD than build a sand castle?

Of course, as you can tell from the title image, this sand castle is of Windfall Island, the one with the great windmill in the middle. Hit the jump to see a video of the entire island be built out of sand!

Something about large sand castle builds amazes me. It’s so precise, yet so fragile. It’s like any sculpture, really, with each line being created with the utmost care, but the fact that it can so easily be torn down is what makes sand castles truly spectacular for me.

Most of the time when I see great sand castle builds they’re already complete, so it was fantastic to be able to watch a time-lapse of Windfall Island being created. It still boggles my mind how sand can be manipulated so well by these sculptors, and I’m still blown away by the final project. In fact, I think watching this “making of” video made me appreciate sand castles even more.

Now all that’s left for me to do is finally get my hands on a Wii U and The Wind Waker HD!
