The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Gets A Special Guest?!
Posted on October 25 2011 by Jesse McCarty
In honor of The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary we all know Nintendo is having a fully orchestrated world tour of the classic and new Zelda songs. We have been updating you on the tour and even included videos of the first concert that started off in L.A.. The second stop on the tour was in London which had a special unexpected guest, Zelda Williams.
Zelda Williams along with her father, Robin Williams are both well known to be fans of the Zelda series. They have made appearances in commercials promoting The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Four Swords for the Nintendo 3DS. Zelda has even shown that she is in full support of Operation Moonfall, a fan petition to convince Nintendo to release Majora’s Mask on the 3DS. Being the huge fan she is Zelda has made an unexpected appearance at the Zelda Anniversary concert at HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London earlier. Is she doing all this because she loves the Zelda series so much or just for the publicity? Jump inside to read my thoughts on it and a closer look at the picture.
Personally I don’t know if Zelda Williams is making the appearances in the commercials or at this concert because she is such a huge fan, solely for the money, or just to get her name out and have publicity. Sure she can go on TV and say she loves the Zelda series, but she is also getting paid by Nintendo under contract to do so. As always I’m a little skeptical and have been wondering about this ever since the first Ocarina of Time 3D commercial aired. Yes, Robin Williams did name his daughter after the series, but did he honestly do it because he loved the series or because he loved the name? I’m a huge fan of Dragon Ball Z and I think the characters have cool names, but if I named my child Goku it doesn’t necessarily mean he will grow up to share the same passion for it as I did. Why have Zelda or Robin Williams not shown their love and done something for the series before OoT 3D. Until they do, I am going to have to stay skeptical and believe this is all for publicity. If they want to change my mind they will have to do something really incredible that doesn’t involve contracted to do so like a YouTube account where they share their ideas of a Zelda game or are more active with Operation Moonfall or something. A simple contract with Nintendo to do a few commercials just doesn’t cut it.
While I do believe she is a fan of the Zelda series it just seems as if she is using the 25th anniversary event as a publicity train and riding it for all it is worth. What are your thoughts though? Do you think she is as big of a fan as she says she is or does it seem skeptical to you as well? I would love to here what you have say. So let me know what you think in the comments below and remember to always check back for the constant Zelda updates coming in!
