The History of the Ghost Hunter
Posted on April 09 2013 by Legacy Staff
In Ocarina of Time, after Ganondorf gains the power of the triforce of power, he really messes Hyrule Castle Town up. By placing redeads all over the place and running down every store, forcing them to move to Kakariko Village, he runs nearly everyone out of the place. All except one: the ghost hunter. The ghost hunter is a very mysterious character who sells ghosts for a living and seems to enjoy mischief. But, what is the history behind this ghoul? Could he have been a person that isn’t accounted for after Ganondorf’s reign? Or perhaps he was just a lingering soul. Hit the jump to find out the top suspects on who this shady character might be.
There is the possibility that the ghost hunter is just a lingering ghoul that happened to show up after Ganondorf takes over, as I mentioned before, but I’m focusing on the possible people that were unaccounted for. There have been many theories on the subject, but there are two that stand out as really possible theories.
1. The boy in the grave yard (Kakariko Village) – How can this not be an option? This boy has a huge attraction to ghost, thus being in the graveyard all of the time and even wishing he was old enough to go on the grave yard tour. Also, the stick that the boy carries is very similar to the stick that the ghost sweeps around in his “shop.” But, unlike the ghost hunter, the boy doesn’t seem to enjoy mischief and will scold you if you cause mischief by moving a gravestone.
2. The knight that is standing exactly where the ghost hunter sits – To find this one you don’t have to go too far. All you have to do is travel back seven years. This is the man that I think is more likely to be the ghost hunter. Similar to the ghost hunter, this knight enjoys trouble by encouraging you to break pots. Also, judging by the clothing they wear and the drawing on the wall next to the ghost hunter, both seem to be wearing a triforce which could mean that they both have a connection to the royal family. Perhaps this soldier died in the battle and his soul carried on, becoming the ghost hunter. Or maybe Ganondorf liked the mischievous thinking of the soldier, similar to how Ganondorf said he liked Link’s “attitude” and turned him into a ghoul. This could be why the ghost hunter calls him “the great Ganondorf.”
Those are my two. Which do you believe to be more accurate? Or, if you have another theory, what is it? If you feel the need, post it in the comments below.
