In the final minutes of today’s Nintendo Direct, Zelda fans were treated to the announcement of new Tears of the Kingdom amiibo releasing this holiday season! Amiibo based on Princess Zelda and Ganondorf have been revealed! As of the time of writing, a price point for these amiibo has not yet been released, nor are pre-orders open, but one can assume that they will retail at the same price as the Tears of the Kingdom Link amiibo that released alongside the game back in May.

A tweet from the official Japanese Zelda Twitter account confirmed that each amiibo will provide you with items that will be useful on your journey and Paraglider fabrics associated with that amiibo’s character.

Nintendo’s Press Site states:

“New amiibo figures of Zelda and Ganondorf are planned for release holiday 2023. A vast number of players are currently exploring Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and this journey can be enhanced by scanning select amiibo figures to unlock valuable in-game items, as well as special fabric for the paraglider, to help Link in his adventure.”

It looks like Nintendo had been planning this release all along! After the release of Tears of the Kingdom, data miners discovered unused Paraglider designs and amiibo identification numbers within the game’s code, hinting at further amiibo releases. You can read our coverage of the data mine here.

Both of the amiibo’s designs are gorgeous. Who knows? Maybe there are more amiibo planned for the future. Breath of the Wild had a large amiibo collection, and maybe Tears of the Kingdom will too. Are you looking forward to adding these amiibo to your Zelda collection? Which one is your favorite. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
