Tears of the Kingdom x Boss Coffee Collaboration Coming Soon to Japan
Posted on August 12 2023 by Emi Curtis
Food-based collaborations with video games are certainly no uncommon thing. Nintendo’s IPs have found themselves on everything from pre-made lunches to snack cookies. This might be the first time they’ve been featured on coffee though. Announced on the official Japanese Zelda Twitter account on August 10th, Japanese beverage and spirits company Suntory will be hosting a special Tears of the Kingdom-based promotion in Japan in early September.
Specifically, Suntory’s Boss Coffee brand, popular in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, will be rebranding its cans to feature characters from Tears of the Kingdom and hidden Koroks. In addition to that, a number of jackets featuring the Boss Coffee logo and Tears of the Kingdom motifs will be given away as part of a sweepstakes, among other prizes. The jackets feature glow-in-the-dark Zonai patterns as well as an attached carrying case for ID cards.
The promotion is set to begin on September 5th.
Unfortunately for fans of Boss and Zelda outside of Japan, this promotion won’t be leaving the shores of the land of the rising sun. Those in New Zealand or Australia like myself can purchase the promotional cans on Suntory’s website and have them shipped though. Everyone else is out of luck, unless you can find a reseller.
If you’re in places Boss Coffee is sold and interested in ordering some Zelda-branded iced coffee, you can check out the promotion on Suntory’s website here! Do note that it is completely in Japanese though. Those in Japan itself can find promotional six-packs sold at most convenience stores.
What are your thoughts? Do you think this is an odd collaboration choice? Will be seeking out some refreshing Zelda coffee drinks? Let us know in the comments below!
