In yet another world record, the well known Cosmo Wright has trampled the previous record speed run for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This incredible feat is now made possible by a newly discovered route that skips the Kokiri Sword, which is done by the making use of the swordless Mido skip. In only 18 minutes and 40 seconds, Cosmo brings us from beginning to end and provides quite an entertaining play through. It’s only a matter of time before Cosmo breaks his own record again, but it’s more than worth the watch to see how it was accomplished.

It is not an exaggeration to say that millions of people have played Zelda games over the years. Many enjoy going through them not once, but sometimes multiple times says a lot about the series’ staying power. Some die-hard gamers, however, take their love for the games to a whole new extreme, adding an extra layer of challenge to their playthroughs by completing them as fast as possible. Although it’s hard to think of a released game that someone hasn’t…

If you know anything about speed runs at all, I’m sure you’ve heard of Cosmo: the man most famous for most of his Zelda runs. He’s done great runs of Majora’s Mask and The Wind Waker, which he just recently made a new record for. Today the focus is his speed run of Ocarina of Time, coming in at a measly 22 minutes and 38 seconds. ComputerandVideoGames (CVG) decided that it was probably time to interview him on his amazing,…

Summer Games Done Quick, the speed run marathon for charity, is about to wrap up its five-day event with one final game: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The run is scheduled to be roughly 4 hours long at most, and begins at approximately 8:30pm MDT (that’s 7:30pm PST and 10:30pm EST. I didn’t know they were broadcasting from Denver.) The time has been changing frequently, as it depends on the runs prior to it, so please check the schedule here often (it shows the times based on your computer’s time zone). You can watch the marathon live right here.

Any donations you make go to Doctors Without Borders, a France-based humanitarian organization that helps out people of any nation suffering from armed conflict, disease, natural disasters, and anything else of that nature. Your donations will also enter you into a raffle to win prizes. The prizes during Twilight Princess are some Zelda playing cards, faerie bottles, and a replica treasure chest. All of the money goes towards a great cause so please, if you can spare something, make the speed runners proud and donate.

This is the final game in the marathon, and a great one at that. So far in this marathon we’ve seen amazing speed runs of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, a surprise twenty-minute run of Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past, and now we’re on Twilight Princess. That’s almost every console Zelda game! Did you tune in for the marathon? Are you watching now, or looking forward to Twilight Princess? What has been your favorite run of the marathon so far?

This is your friendly reminder that the speed run of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is going to start at about 8:20pm EST. Times change frequently so please check here to find the current schedule as the event draws closer. The prizes for donating this time are a Super Nintendo with a boxed copy of Super Mario Kart, a baby Link outfit, a Zelda cross-stitch, and a boxed Japanese 1.0 cart of A Link to the Past. Once again, you can find the marathon stream right here.

This speed run is part of the Summer Games Done Quick marathon to raise money for charity, hosted by Speed Demos Archive. All donations during the marathon go towards Doctors Without Borders, a humanitarian organization made up of medical professionals who treat people around the world who have been afflicted by ‘armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, natural disaster, or exclusion from health care’. Your donations will also enter you into a drawing for the prizes mentioned above, with donation price brackets to be announced when the run starts.

There’s only one more Zelda game in the marathon left: Twilight Princess, scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Expect another reminder then, and please donate if you can. Enjoy the marathon!

UPDATE: They’ve met a donation goal to have Cosmo run Ocarina of Time at any percent, meaning we’re in for a treat with a heavily glitched run where the game is beat as child Link. It’s starting right now, right before ALttP!

This is just a reminder for anyone interested in watching the back to back speed runs of The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link coming up soon in the Summer Games Done Quick charity marathon. The set begins at 1:24pm EST today. You can check the schedule here to confirm the time, as it is subject to change, and you can click here to watch the marathon (which is currently running).

The marathon is a charity which donates to Doctors Without Borders, a humanitarian organization which ‘delivers emergency medical care to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, natural disaster, or exclusion from health care in more than 65 countries’. Each donation within a certain price bracket will also enter you for a prize. The prizes during the Zelda NES block are some sprite perlers of various characters in The Legend of Zelda, and some really sweet posters.

I’ll also be throwing up reminders for A Link to the Past and Twilight Princess shortly before the runs are to begin, so keep an eye out if you’re interested! And please, if you can, consider donating. It’s for a good cause.

A month ago, the internet stood in shock when the reigning king of The Wind Waker speedruns, Cosmo, was dethroned by Swedish runner Demon9 with a time of 4:34:09. Of course, speedrunning is a section of gaming that will always be unpredictable and constantly changing. Thus holds true here; hardly a few weeks after Demon9’s triumph, Cosmo managed to reclaim the World Record with an astounding time of 4:32:26! This puts Cosmo on top again with a lead of 1…

Hold onto your caps speedrun fans! A brand new any % record has been set for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker by Demoon9. He hit the astounding time of 4:34:09, beating out the previous top The Wind Waker speedrunner, Cosmo, by 2 minute and 27 seconds! Demoon9 hosted a livestream for his record-breaking playthrough of the Japanese version of the game on TwitchTV, beating the previous time of 4:36:36. The playthrough, while not tool-assisted, exploited glitches heavily, allowing…

The following article is part of our archives and does not reflect current style guide standards. It is kept as is for posterity. No matter how long a Zelda game takes or the way it is done, glitches or no glitches, the excitement involved in watching the skill of gamers break records for speed running is amazing. Earlier this year we saw a Majora’s Mask speed run record smashed and this time it was The Wind Waker’s turn to test…

The following article is part of our archives and does not reflect current style guide standards. It is kept as is for posterity. The speed running community had been struck with a new record for a 100% run of Majora’s Mask with an outstanding time of 6:06:26 (6 hours 6 minutes 26 seconds). That means that ZeldaFreakGlitcha completed everything there is to do in Majora’s Mask in that time, beating Kaztalek’s previous time of 6:17:26. Every side quest was completed,…
