As the release of Majora’s Mask 3D drew closer, we heard a lot about how the development team approached changes from the original N64 game. Aspects like pacing and difficulty were tweaked in certain ways to help players understand and push toward objectives. With the game finally out for a few weeks, Eiji Aonuma recently spoke to Game Informer about how his team approached these changes, discussing pacing, boss fights, and more…

Hello fellow lovers of Zelda music and welcome back to our (slightly belated) Wednesday feature: The Weekly Music Spotlight! When I think about

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, one of the first things that comes to my mind is the three-day cycle. One of the things that the Zelda series has always lacked is a sense of urgency. The threat of a great evil almost seems to idly stand by on their plans for domination so you have time to stop by and catch the Hylian Loach. However, Majora’s Mask gives you a countdown clock and the visual representation of a falling moon that will ultimately…

In several of these interviews, the Zelda producer has shed light on everything from fan theories to design decisions. In a recent interview with Game Informer, Aonuma answered a series of questions about Majora’s Mask, speaking on the mysterious nature of the Fierce Deity Mask and so much more…

The pages depicted a scene on Romani Ranch, with Link interacting with Romani and Cremia. For those hankering to see more of this cut storyline, Himekawa has released three additional pages of the rare manuscript, along with some insight on where it took place in the manga’s story…

Most of us already know about the uncanny similarities between Majora’s Mask‘s unique Mirror Shield design and a specific mask found on the back of the Happy Mask Salesman. It’s safe to assume that one of these designs influenced the other, but the game was unclear as to which came first. In an interview with Japanese magazine Nintendo DreamEiji Aonuma explains how the Mirror Shield was actually based on the HMS’ distressed mask and how the development team felt about this choice…

Majora’s Mask is one of the most unique Zelda games ever created. The constant threat of being timed, the creepy storyline, and the different variations of Link not included in other titles.  All of this was created just one year after Ocarina of Time, using the same character models and overall feel of the game. How did they do it? Why haven’t we seen newer Zelda titles with the same feature? Hit the jump to hear the answer from producer…
