Super Mario Maker is driving up Nintendo’s sales like crazy lately, but while many Nintendo fans are truly enjoying it, there are a lot of Zelda players wishing to see a Zelda Maker. While the producer of Super Mario Maker has stated that fans should not expect such a game anytime soon, YouTuber Dream Mix is hard at work creating his own on PC, and his fan-made Zelda Maker is now in alpha stages, and is up for download! Since Flappy Bird began dominating the App Store charts well over a year ago, countless generic knock-offs resembling various video game franchises have attempted to replace it. Alas, The Legend of Zelda is no exception. Obviously, the creators of this particular ripoff were not ashamed to model their app after Link’s Awakening, hence the clever title The Legend of Zeldo: Lonk’s Awakening DX. Surprisingly, the game is filled with a humorous array of Zelda references, Lonk even tumbles in mid-air…

YouTube member Mr Dinarius has recently posted a video showing off some of the gameplay of the fan project Ocarina of Time 2D. In the video we see the first few minutes of gameplay recreating the kokiri village and introduction in the style of A Link to the Past. Jump inside to check it out for yourself.

Ocarina of Time 2D, a 2D remake of the N64 classic, is a fan-created game that now has a playable demo on its main website. Trailers for the remake are up on YouTube, and show off some interesting things. The way that Ocarina of Time‘s gameplay is recreated is interesting, considering the game looks quite a lot like A Link to the Past, but Ocarina of Time‘s game elements still seem very responsive in it. A man named Ben Purdy has created a strange version of The Legend of Zelda that looks even more ancient than the NES version. You can go to his website, and play the whole game right in your internet browser. Link, rupees, enemies and most other things are just one pixel, and the rather awkward field of view could prove to make things a bit difficult, but it is certainly worth a shot. Check out some screenshots after the jump!

Recently, Nintendo has been making significant strides toward making its game machines as “indie-friendly,” on a development and publishing level, as is possible.  The company certainly seems to be striking the proverbial chord with many independent and small video game creators, because a slew of titles born on Kickstarter and elsewhere are set to be released within the next year or so.  While many of these games are wholly new ideas with interesting gameplay mechanics, unsurprisingly, some of them are…

Over at the Zelda Dungeon YouTube Channel, I’ve been uploading daily videos of my Let’s Play for the Zelda Classic fan game, Lost Isle. If you make the jump, you can find videos 3-6, which cover the first dungeon in its entirety. Yes, that is four videos, spanning over an hour and 15 minutes, just for the first dungeon! Indeed this game is huge. This fan game runs on the Zelda Classic player and you can download the game over…

Over at the Zelda Dungeon YouTube Channel, I’ve recently started uploading a Let’s Play of the Zelda fan game, The Legend of Zelda: Lost Isle. This fan game runs on the Zelda Classic player and you can download the game over at PureZC. It is a traditional top-down view 2D Zelda game and from what I’ve played so far, it’s fantastic. This series differs greatly from our usual Zelda Walkthroughs that we provide at our YouTube Channel. While Caleb is…

[news post contributed by Jackson] Test subjects can now return to the dreaded Aperture Laboratories for another round of testing. This time, however, you will be tested for your power, wisdom, and courage! Steam user ajminfigure, through the use of Steam Workshop, has created a prototype Portal 2 test chamber. This time, it’s Zelda themed. The chamber is designed to test the power, wisdom, and courage of those who enter it, all while utilizing the Portal series’ fun and mind-bending…

Our friends over at Zelda Universe have gone all out in creating a web-based treasure hunt full of riddles and puzzles all related to Zelda. Mum is the word on exactly what the prizes are, but they reveal that the prizes are worth over $500! Beginning at “The Temple” (which bears a striking resemblance to their own website) players are expected to find their way inside and then choose one of our doors, each unlocked during a different week, which…
