With the economy being rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic and isolation mandates set in place, people are not able to go out and spend money on many traditional entertainment activities. Universal Studios in Orlando has seen a major revenue loss due to the pandemic and has indefinitely delayed construction of the anticipated Super Nintendo World.

During the Comcast Second Quarter 2020 Earnings Conference Call, the delay was announced. “We are continually adjusting our cost base and capital, including pausing development of our Epic Universe project in Florida, for example, until the future becomes more certain,” says Jeff Shell, CEO of NBCUniversal.

Super Nintendo World was originally scheduled to open at Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe in 2023. This delay comes after Universal Studios’ postponement of Super Nintendo World in Japan earlier this year.

Though the construction is delayed, Super Nintendo World will eventually come to be. This tweet, posted on July 1st, shows a quick snippet of the Super Nintendo World in Japan and begs the question: is there a Zelda-themed attraction you’re hoping to see when Super Nintendo World opens? What would you hope it to be? Let us know in the comments below!
