Skyward Sword Shows Off Its Intricate Upgrade System!

Just when it seemed like we were filled to capacity with Zelda info, they throw another trailer in our face, not that I am complaining. As many of you already know, you’ll have the ability to upgrade your weapons and items in Skyward Sword. This new trailer demonstrates how that’s accomplished. It is shown that Link will find certain items on occasion, primarily after defeating enemies. These items will be kept in your inventory, and later used for upgrades. After that you’ll want to make a stop to Skyloft’s local Scrap Shop located in the Bazaar where you can use your new collected goodies to upgrade gear, or just make some repairs to your shield. These upgrades include all of Links arsenal, from his slingshot to his shield.
Obtaining items of these sorts after defeating enemies isn’t new to the Zelda series. Games like Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass did something similar by trading goods for rupees, or collecting items for upgrades. Many have criticized these games for being too easy when it comes to money in their pocket. In the trailer, it shows Link at a maximum of 300 rupees, in what seems to be early parts of the game. Hopefully there will be a balance between collecting rupees and spending them on upgrades and more.
In addition to the reveal of the upgrade system, Skyward also gets an official E+10 rating. Surprisingly, Skyward Sword will have some sort bloodshed – well, animated blood, as it is written in the ESRB rating.
So what do you guys think of this new trailer? Does the upgrade system appeal to you? Are you disappointed in the only E+10 rating?
