Skyward Sword – Latest Pre-Order Numbers: Slight Improvement

The latest Skyward Sword Pre-Order Numbers are in and this week shows a slight improvement for the game. Skyward Sword picked up 38,944 pre-orders during the last week, bringing it to a total of 452,825. These numbers are a bit more promising as Skyward Sword picked up 22,507, 23,198, and 20,938 during the previous three weeks.
Skyward Sword coming soon posters and displays are now starting to pop-up in retail stores across the country. Furthermore, with the first reviews from Official NintendO Magazine and EDGE magazine coming in at near perfect scores, the hype for Skyward Sword is building. Jump inside for some more pre-order analysis.
Skyward Sword was at #9 on the list during the previous week, but with Batman: Arkham City releasing on two consoles a week ago, Skyward Sword has climbed up two spots to #7 on the listing. With Battlefield 3 making its final appearance on the pre-order listing, Skyward Sword is set to jump up two more spots for next weeks charts.
It’s not all good news and in fact, there is still plenty of disappointing news to mention. Amongst the Top 10 games on the list, Skyward Sword was second to last in weekly pre-orders, finishing ahead of only Assassin’s Creed for the Xbox 360. However, if you count both the PS3 and 360 numbers for that game together, Skyward Sword was dead last.
As for Nintendo titles as a whole… the listing has been expanded to show not just the Top 20, but it now shows the Top 50 pre-ordered titles. The only other Nintendo Wii title on the listing is Kirby’s Return to Dreamland which is set for release in the next few days. Several Nintendo 3DS titles make the list including Super Mario 3D Land at #20, Mario Kart 7 at #23, Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns at #36, and Pokémon Rumble Blast at #41.
With less than 5 weeks remaining to the release of Skyward Sword, I’m still anticipating final pre-order numbers between 600,000 and 700,000. Who knows though, perhaps once TV commercials and a strong online campaign start up, pre-order numbers could head… Skyward. Only time will tell. Skyward Sword is set for release on November 18th in Europe, November 20th in the US, November 23rd in Japan, and November 24th in Australia.
