Report: Tears of the Kingdom Surpasses 20 Million Unit Sales, Lists Among Best-Selling Switch Games

A new financial report from Nintendo confirms that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has sold 20.28 million units as of December 31st, 2023, making it the ninth best-selling game on the Nintendo Switch. With 780,000 units sold in Q3 of FY2024, Tears of the Kingdom is poised to surpass the Switch’s eighth best-selling game, Super Mario Party, which currently sits with lifetime sales of 20.34 million units.
Reported as well is the ranking of the 10 best-selling games for the Nintendo Switch. They are:
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 60.58 million
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons: 44.79 million
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 33.67 million
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: 31.61 million
- Super Mario Odyssey: 27.65 million
- Pokémon Sword and Shield: 26.17 million
- Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: 24.36 million
- Super Mario Party: 20.34 million
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: 20.28 million
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe: 17.2 million
Switch hardware sales were also shown to have reached 139 million units, placing it only behind the Nintendo DS’ 154 million.
