Breath of the Wild‘s pre-release awards continue to pile up. After winning practically every possible game of show award it could at E3, Breath of the Wild has now taken home the best of Gamescom award, which was given by the official Gamescom website. It also won best Wii U game, but that’s obviously a side note as you aren’t going to win best of show as an exclusive and not be the best game on your given platform. I think at this point we’ve gotten all we really need to get for this title…

One of the most famous songs in the The Legend of Zelda is Zelda’s Lullaby. Contrary to popular belief, the song made its debut in A Link To The Past but it has appeared in several other installments such as Twilight Princess, The Minish Cap and many more. Even though it is a simple tune it always gets to evoke a warm, fuzzy feeling in each fan. This time, YouTuber MandoPony does his rendition but with a twist: He plays the song using a mandolin! His version gives off a soothing, relaxing vibe that makes it impossible not to unwind while listening to it…

Greetings, everyone! The 2016 Summer Olympics may be about ready to end, but Zelda Informer’s weekly Photoshop Contest will continue to carry on the spirit of competition. For the past few weeks, athletes from all around the world have gathered together in Rio to demonstrate their physical prowess. With so much athleticism on display, I couldn’t help but wonder which Zelda character could make it as an Olympic competitor. So this week, we want to throw some of the series’ best into the arena. Carry the torch of creativity this week by showcasing your ‘shopping skills, as we showcase the winners of last week’s contest: Ruin a Historical Event with the Skull Kid

One of the most famous songs in the Legend of Zelda is Zelda’s Lullaby. The song made its debut in A Link To The Past but it has appeared in several other instalments such as Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, The Minish Cap and many more. Even though it is a simple tune it always gets to evoke a warm, fuzzy feeling in each fan. This time, YouTuber MandoPony does his rendition but with a twist: He plays the song using a mandolin! His version gives off a soothing, relaxing vibe that makes it impossible not to relax while listening to it. It also gives the impression of what it would sound like in the Zora Guitar from Majora’s Mask. What are your thoughts on this relaxing melody? Let us know in the comments.

Dr. Wily uploaded a theory on the origins of Majora’s Mask’s Odolwa to YouTube. While Dr. Wily realizes that some people believe the game’s first boss to be African in nature, he presents a different possibility. Dr. Wily believes that Odolwa is, in fact, Mayan. He notes that some of the characteristics of Mayan warriors do not completely fit all aspects of Odolwa’s design. Despite this, he feels that the Mayan influence brings more insight into Majora’s Mask’s story…

Whether or not Ocarina of Time falls on your list of favorite Zelda games, you have to admit that it helped ocarina playing reach a new level of popularity. Many people reach for this instrument as a way to bring Zelda music to life and, from personal experience, it’s one of the easiest instruments to learn. With the impending release of Breath of the Wild taunting us, we will eventually have a whole new world of Zelda music to cherish. From what we have seen in the trailer so far, the music is fantastic…

If you’re in search of new walking music, or just need some new Zelda tunes, Gamliel Zafrana on YouTube has you covered. He has remixed “In the Fields” from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for your listening pleasure…

If you’re looking to stock up on more games to play, now is a great opportunity to do so. Nintendo is holding a sale on select video games to help you finish out your summer strong. Now until September 1st you can get many Wii U and 3DS games for up to 30% off, and that includes some Zelda titles. First, A Link Between Worlds has dropped from $39.00 to just $27.99 USD if you want to save over $10 USD. Next, Phantom Hourglass for the Wii U is sitting at a pretty $6.99 USD…

Us press sometime get all of the fun. At E3 2016 I got numerous Breath of the Wild T-Shirts and coins to go along with six and half times playing the demo. Now press at Gamescom are receiving Breath of the Wild Pillows and notebooks. Both are really interesting and unique pieces of Zelda merchandise the public will likely only ever get their hands on via ebay re-sellers. As I didn’t attend Gamescom (though it would certainly be a fun trip to go to one of these years)…

Nintendo, still pushing their social media campaign for Breath of the Wild, released another small bit of footage showing off the Magnesis ability. It shows off the one of the early Shrines in the game where the ability is first obtained, though the ending of the shrine is cut out (though, it’s easy to find online if you care to know more). This ability is also known for creating the crazy catapult actions, though I’ll let you find out how that works on your own…
