Latest Updates

If you plan to browse the Nintendo 3DS eShop or play a few rounds of Tri Force Heroes on Sunday night, you might want to reschedule those plans. Some maintenance is scheduled for the 3DS network around then, so it would be wise to get in your play time before then. This is most likely just routine maintenance—I wouldn’t expect anything major to happen once the network goes back up.

Regardless, here are the times for network maintenance…

One question I haven’t seen asked much regarding Breath of the Wild is the role of the Triforce. While we did see the iconic Master Sword in the trailer, the Triforce was absent. Which, to be fair, I didn’t really expect to see it, and I don’t know anyone who did. Regardless, HMK has put together an 11 minute video of speculation regarding this topic.

Could Ganon have taken the Triforce of Power, and wreaked havoc on the land as Calamity Ganon because of the Triforce…

Breath of the Wild is proving to be a juggernaut of a Zelda title, with a grand world for us all to explore in our own way. But as of yet, we do not know the details of why we are exploring. The story is still quite a mystery. What is clear, though, is that since this is likely to become a new basis for the style of future Zelda games, a whole new world of stories and plot lines…

Digital Foundry, a branch of Eurogamer, released a video last week talking about the potential technology going into Nintendo’s NX system. To keep you updated, you can get a nice recap of the NX report here. They are analyzing the part of the report that talks about Nvidia’s Tegra! tech, specifically in regards to the X1. The spec breakdown is this…

Maybe it’s because I have Pokémon on the brain, but I’ve been thinking about what a turn-based Zelda game would be like. This isn’t the first time I’ve thought about it, and not the first time it’s been brought up on Zelda Informer. My fellow co-worker Alfred Tabaks dedicated an entire section to why a Zelda RPG should have turn-based combat in an editorial. A while back we shared some fan art of a conceptual turn-based Zelda title on our Twitter (the banner image for this Daily Debate, actually), and it was well received among the community—perhaps it’s time Nintendo made it happen…

Stop the presses, a new classic game hack exists. Alright, so that’s not necessarily ground breaking stuff, but this particular hack is bringing all new life into A Link to the Past, 25 years later. Kotaku recently wrote up an absolutely stellar piece that goes into great detail about both the hack and the folks behind it, who generally preside in the speed-running realm. I highly implore you go give

that article a read, as it contains some highly interesting stuff. I’ll just cover the basics here and a few situations…

In March of this past year, Nintendo released yet another HD remake. After 10 years, Twilight Princess HD was released for the Wii U and with the game, came a new look. Its graphics are in a newer quality now providing beautiful detail to the game’s background and characters. One of the main places (and most iconic in the Zelda franchise), is Hyrule Castle. The detail and landscape surrounding the majestic palace is placed beautifully, and goes well with the royal family and its reign…

On this week’s episode of the Zelda Informer Podcast we

discuss the premise forBreath of the Wild, the role art style plays in the series, and offer speculation on where exactly the Zelda series is heading after Breath of the Wild. We are joined this week by your usual hosts and a special guest, the hype man himself, HMK…

Whenever it comes to a fan doing a cover of a slower Zelda song, I usually prefer the tune being played on piano. That’s not to say there’s nothing wrong with any other kinds of instruments used for that kind of cover, but a piano always makes the mood feel so calming and inviting. This piano cover is a perfect example of that as one YouTuber has given us a relaxing feel to journeying through the Faron Woods…

The Kakariko Village theme is a very memorable Zelda song from Ocarina of Time. I’ve heard many covers of this particular tune, but in my opinion the best ones feature the piano. Maybe I am a bit biased, as I know how to play the piano, but there is just something very relaxing about it. In combination with the Kakariko Village theme, this is definitely one beautiful piece from Nils Hallmanns.

The cover is piano-only, and is something I would put on when trying to sleep. It will definitely do the job if you’re trying to calm the brain after…
