The Triforce plays a huge part in The Legend of Zelda franchise and is usually at the heart of every storyline within the games. It is a sacred golden triangle which is made up of three smaller triangles, each representing Power, Wisdom and Courage. Also known as “The Ultimate Power”, the Triforce has the ability to grant the wish of those who obtain it, regardless of whether that person’s intentions are good or evil. Because the Triforce plays such a huge part…

One of the most popular tracks in the Zelda series (as proven by our ongoing March Madness brackets) is A Link to the Past‘s Dark World Theme, which plays in the distorted Sacred Realm. The theme is instantly recognizable, and for many is a strong reminder of their time playing this game. Youtube Musician Huskybythegeek has enhanced this track in his metal cover, by using an array of electric guitars and an added percussion line. With this harsher instrumentation, the theme comes to…

It’s hard to overstate the importance of 1986’s The Legend of Zelda, the first title in what has become our favorite game series. The game not only birthed a long-running popular franchise for Nintendo, but it also set the standard for the budding action-adventure genre and expanded the boundaries of console gaming. And though we fans discuss the Zelda series on a daily basis around here, we often forget just how important that first game was. Games journalist and historian…

Hello again! Welcome back to Artists of Legend! I hope you’ve had a nice week. As usual, we have more artwork to share and a new challenge to offer. Let’s get right into that, shall we? Submitted Artwork Last week, we asked you to create artwork of something time-related. Unfortunately, we didn’t receive any artwork for this challenge this week. If you wanted to submit to us but were too busy to, don’t worry! We all get busy sometimes; you…

Just as A Link Between Worlds did nearly six years ago, the Switch’s upcoming Link’s Awakening remake aims to breathe new life into a classic Zelda title. As of now, the only changes to the original game that we know of are the updated musical score and visual presentation. What remains to be seen is just how far the developers will take this remake. Considering that the title remains the same, I doubt we’re looking at a sequel/remake hybrid in…

Solar Ash Kingdom, developer Heart Machine’s long-awaited follow-up to Hyper Light Drifter, was just officially announced. While few details have been revealed, the announcement was made alongside a debut trailer and a short interview from creator Alx Preston. A successor of sorts to the studio’s previous title, this new project diverges from the pixel art stylized after the SNES era and goes instead in the direction of full-on modern 3D graphics! This project has, in the past, been only hinted…

Nintendo has done a great job to make the Zelda series one of the most popular gaming franchises in the world. Each Zelda game presents an immersive experience for the player, with a world filled with fantasy and excitement. There are interesting non-player characters to meet, a wide variety of enemies to battle and fun side-quests to complete– and that’s just outside of the main quest! I enjoy playing the games in the Zelda franchise so much, that I return to them time and time…

Though perhaps not as extensive as that of Skyrim, Breath of the Wild‘s mod scene has been going strong ever since the Cemu Wii U emulator became capable of running it. Whether they’re bringing meme’s to the land of Hyrule or making it even more similar to an anime than it already is, there’s almost a mod for everything, including, apparently, one to remove the game’s signature cel-shading. Showcased recently by Arkh Longstride on YouTube, and created by Skalefate and altros,…

Over the many years Zelda has been a franchise, the main hero himself has gone through almost as many changes! Though he’s always had generally the same discernible features, Link sometimes has wild variations in how he both appears and engages with the world around him. As a 2D sprite, he didn’t always have that much detail, but he was just as capable of defeating Ganon as the Hero of Twilight after him! Breath of the Wild not only gave us a…

Zelda Warfare is our series in which Mases and Gooey race Link’s Awakening DX on hero mode in segmented sections. Each episode, or campaign, is worth a point. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game has won the war!  WE ARE BACK! In our inaugural episode of this season, we have a neck in neck run as we head towards Tail Cave. Be sure to let us know who you are rooting for! This season is…
