At E3, we got a look at the next installment of the Zelda franchise, due out in 2015. We were shown a trailer where we saw Link, his horse (presumably Epona), and an enemy, but nothing else. More specifically though, we didn’t see any gameplay, or at least none from the player’s perspective. As a result, we don’t know how the interface will be set up. However, DeviantART user SoenkesAdventure made a mock-up of what the Zelda U interface might…

In Masahiro Sakurai’s most recent Miiverse post he shows off the Trophy Shop for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, however, upon further inspection of the image an interesting trophy is revealed. Zelda fans will likely recognize Ganondorf and his familiar design he takes on in the image. Check it out after the jump!

Smash has been out worldwide for over a week now, and some of the top fighters in the world are gathering together for a tournament to see who is at the top of the early game. With characters like Little Mac dominating the online community, we can expect to see some heavy hitting fights between the competitors, but I am excited to see what tactics are being brought to counter the Smash powerhouse. Nintendo is broadcasting the event live now, and we’ve got your video footage. The winner will receive a limited edition robe and trophy…

As the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. has now been released worldwide and Super Smash Bros. For Wii U nears its 21st November release, developer Masahiro Sakurai has decided to treat us to a screenshot taken from the Wii U version of the game…

This week your host, Adam, is joined by Chris (from last week) Jake (just some guy) and the wonderful Cassie, Level Designer on Electronic Super Joy! We talk about things like butts and why Jake thinks we should not get a Majora’s Mask remake. It gets weird. Remember to email us at

Nintendo has always had an interesting relationship with horror in video games. For the entirety of its lifespan, horrific and/or violent video games have not made the shelves on Nintendo’s consoles nearly as readily as fantasy or family fun titles. Mario and Co. have explored haunted mansions, Pokémon trainers have met with spectral spirits in graveyards, and even Kirby has transformed into a ghost. While all these situations have the makings of inciting fear within the player, they tend to come off too cartoonish and scripted to affect our psyches deeply. An example of a Nintendo staple that does horror a little bit differently is Zelda. There have been numerous moments playing Zelda when I have been truly afraid or disturbed, and this has never been to do with gruesome violence or cheap shots. The answer lies in something a bit more psychological.

The first few sets of Amiibos have been revealed for Super Smash Bros., and this has many wondering what it may lead to for the Wii U and 3DS. What about Zelda? It certainly is not inconceivable for Zelda to have its own Amiibo figures, but that obviously leads to the question of how they may be used. What special elements of Zelda games could be enhanced with the use of these new portable figures? Join the discussion after the…

Every now and then I stumble upon an artist whom I had never previously heard of before. Zesiul is such an artist I happened upon today, and this person has done some amazing fan works for The Legend of Zelda. In fact, they are so good I almost wish Nintendo would hire them as a concept artist. They have re-imagined GanonMajora’s Mask, and even Horsehead. Simply put, I am astonished in a way I haven’t been for some time. It takes me back to when I was a child use to imagine all these characters in the world we live in…

A fan on Deviant Art decided to take a crack at creating potential concepts for the UI display in Zelda U. While this display is 100% fan made, it still brings up an interesting discussion point. What sort of UI are we really expecting to see? The art depicts what you would figure would be the UI if you play the game with a Wii U Pro Controller versus the gamepad, as much of this UI would naturally shift to the touch screen otherwise. Still, it’s an interesting concept. I am just happy a magic meter was included, as most of us have been clamoring for true magic to return to the series for a long time now (not just a few…

The New Nintendo 3DS has released in Japan today (well, technically tomorrow, which is today in Japan) and boast marked performance increases over the original model and 3DS XL. While there are some minor speed differences when it comes to navigating the OS and booting the systems up, by far the biggest difference is in pure download speeds. In a direct comparison a user on YouTube was downloading a demo and playing it for what felt like at least a minute or two before the old 3DS models finished downloading. When the download completed…
