Ottawa developer reaches out to the Kickstarter crowd

Does that image look familiar? It sort of should, it’s a game in development that’s taken a lot of inspiration from the Zelda series. This game, however, is quite in any of the styles of the Zelda games, but rather uses voxels to create the magical world known as Voxelot.
Your job, as King Voxel, is to save your queen from Lord Hellion, but only if this project gets funded on Kickstarter. Hit the jump for more!
Lord Hellion has conquered the kingdom of Voxelot, transformed the kingdom with his enchantment, stolen the royal treasures, and kidnapped Queen Voxel! It is up to King Voxel, the king who fights like a warrior poet, to undo Hellion’s treachery!
Right now King Voxel is in the alpha stages, but the developer, Phillip Meyer, wants to take his self-funded project to the next level. It’s heavily inspired by the Atari 2600 title, Adventure, and of course, The Legend of Zelda.
The most outstanding feature of Adventure that Phillip Meyer has utilized in King Voxel is the random world generation, because in his youth of playing The Legend of Zelda, he felt the gameplay becoming stale as he memorized all of the secrets.
If you still aren’t convinced, you can check out the free demo of the current alpha here.
Currently King Voxel is about a week into its campaign with $686 CAD raised of its $20,000 goal. Even if you would like to support King Voxel but can’t afford to support the Kickstarter, he still encourages that you support the game on its Steam Greenlight page, which can be located here.
Of course, if you do choose to support there are many tiers of rewards, which range from being in the credits, to getting a cape on your in-game character, to even getting the LEGO model of King Voxel that inspired Phillip Meyer to start creating the game in the first place.
What do you think? Is King Voxel something you’re interested in? Let us now in the comments!
