Ōkami places you into the realm of Nippon, a fictionalized version of Japan. The game world is heavily influenced by Japanese culture, history, and Shinto belief. You play as the sun goddess Amaterasu harnessing the celestial brush to rescue Nippon from the evil Orochi.

Gameplay, theme, and plot will all feel natural to long-time Zelda fans. Ōkami clearly borrows a lot from the franchise and uses it in a new and engaging way. Even though you are playing as a wolf, the game controls very similar to Zelda in terms of puzzle solving, combat, and use of items.
