Official Nintendo Magazine Timeline

Nintendo UK’s Official Nintendo Magazine released a three page look at one of our favorite topics of discussion, the Zelda Timeline. They gave a rather quick summarization of the timeline, easy enough that even a more casual Zelda fan could read and understand much of it. While in page two they gave a visual diagram of their timeline, in page 3 they even question some of their own placements. In particular, how could the Adventure of Link be so late in the timeline if many believe that to be the original Zelda where the actual Legend was formed? Is The Minish Cap really the first title in the timeline? How do they make such a definitive conclusion that A Link to the Past comes after the Legend of Zelda and the Adventure of Link?
How about the Tingle titles, Link’s Crossbow Training, CD-i Zelda Titles, or Zelda Game and Watch? What is to be considered canon and what isn’t? These are some of the seemingly endless questions that Zelda fans have been trying to tackle for years and will continue to attempt to go after for years to come. Until Nintendo pulls out that apparent document with the official timeline, we will be left to discuss, debate, argue, and guess until we feel our own personal timelines are the best out there.
