Ocarina of Time 3D: Is It For the Core Zelda Fan?
Posted on June 18 2011 by Mases Hagopian
Despite the fact that Ocarina of Time 3D has received overwhelmingly positive reviews with most scores in the low to mid 90’s, and even some at a perfect 100%. Some core Zelda fans are still skeptical. Is Ocarina of Time 3D really for them? If you are one of the players that beat Ocarina of Time on a number of occasions, did a 100% playthrough, and completed the Master Quest, is there really enough in the Nintendo 3DS version to warrant your purchase? I say yes and I explain my points in the video embedded above. In addition to talking about the game, I do show another Easter Egg just after the 9:00 minute mark.
Our affiliate website Zelda Informer recently wrote a review and part of their conclusion about the game was as follows, “If you’re not interested in the Master Quest, there is honestly little reason to buy this game.” They did praise several of the new features within the game, but for those that played the game before, they said that Master Quest is the sole definitive reason to buy the game.
I was shocked to see this at a Zelda fan website, since I don’t think it did the game justice. In the video above you’ll hear me talk more about the Master Quest, but also mention the Boss Gauntlet (which was not mentioned at all in the initial publication of the Zelda Informer review), as well as elaborate on the MANY Easter Eggs found throughout the game. I think these reasons, along with the general upgrades such as the game being portable, the 3D effect, updated graphics, and the updated brand new controls make this a true gift for the hardcore Zelda fan. I sure hope this smooths out any skepticism you might have about the game. If it doesn’t, then head on over to our Ocarina of Time 3D Forum and see what other Zelda fans who have gotten a chance to play the game already have to say.
Ocarina of Time 3D is already available in Japan and Europe, so go out and get it! For those of you in the United States, you’ll have to wait less than 24-hours to get your copy, as the game is set to ship tomorrow.
