Update: Nintendo today announced the cancellation of Nintendo Live 2024, which was planned to take place in Tokyo, Japan on January 20th and 21st. The company cited persistent threats to employees, spectators, and staff as the reason for the cancellation, emphasizing that safety is its “top priority.”
The Splatoon Koshien 2023 National Finals, which were to be held at Nintendo Live 2024, have thus been postponed. The Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Online Challenge Final Stage, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024 have likewise been postponed. The new dates for these events will be announced at a later date.
Original: From September 1st to September 4th, Seattle, Washington will witness the return of Nintendo Live, a family-friendly video game event that celebrates everything to do with the Big N. The expo has events for all ages, like tournaments and chances to play a bunch of different Switch titles such as Tears of the Kingdom. Speaking of which, the event will host a Zelda orchestral concert as well.
Before the doors have even opened on this year’s event though, Nintendo has already announced the location of next year’s event. In a recent tweet, the company announced that Nintendo Live 2024 will be taking place in Tokyo, Japan on January 20th and 21st at the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Center.

The official Nintendo Live 2024 site also confirms that many of the events from the Seattle convention will be at the next show, including the Zelda orchestral performance. Please note that not only is the next event less than five months away, but it will only take place over a span of just two days compared to the length of this year’s expo.
My biggest guess on why the shorter span could be due to Tokyo Big Sight’s other planned events during the month of January. Regardless, it is nice to see Nintendo deciding to continue this event going forward. And who knows? It may be in your neck of the woods sooner, rather than later.
Also, if you’re in the New York City area this weekend and would like to check out what Nintendo Live 2023 has to offer, the Nintendo NY store will be streaming select events from the show.
What do you folks think of this news? Will you be attending this year’s Nintendo Live? Let us know in the comments below!
