New Zelda Lofi Remix Album “Hyrule Café” Out Now
Posted on September 22 2023 by Kristen G. Rosario
When it comes to trying to shut out the rest of world for a while, some of us meditate, others read, while most (at least around these parts) kick back and enjoy a nice Zelda game. During such activities, some of us even like to put on some music to help us enter a reality where nobody will disturb us. That’s why one has to appreciate it when a record company like GameChops helps put together music for those Zelda fans trying to get away.
Speaking of which, GameChops just recently distributed a new Zelda lofi remix album called Hyrule Café. Produced by musician Evelyn Rivera (AKA Coffee Date), this 21 song record (her biggest yet) features remixes from multiple games in the series such as The Legend of Zelda, Link’s Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Tears of the Kingdom, and more. Thanks to Dj Cutman, six of the songs have also been rearranged from some of Evelyn’s older work.
Coffee Date had the following to say about the release of Hyrule Café:
“I’m so excited to finally share Hyrule Café. It’s my biggest project yet and by far the one closest to my heart. The way I see it, this album has been over 10 years in the making. I started playing The Legend of Zelda when I was 12 years old (and became obsessed), but when I first discovered remixes of Zelda music on YouTube, it blew my mind that remixing game music was even a possibility. I didn’t have access to music lessons, so I started self-teaching violin and piano so that I could play these songs that I loved so much. With a lot of practice, patience, hard work, and that spark of inspiration, it finally culminated in Hyrule Café — which to me serves as proof that dreams can come true.
I’m incredibly honored to have worked with my friends and colleagues to create six of these tracks, as well as the artwork. Dj Cutman also dedicated time to re-mastering six of my older tracks for Hyrule Café, and I couldn’t be happier with how they came out. Working on this project with a team has shown me how beautiful it is to share in the experience of creating with others and working together to make a vision come to life. It’s the effort of everyone together that makes this album what it is, and for that I am beyond grateful.
To the listeners, to the team, to my friends and family, and to whoever else reads this: from the bottom of my heart, thank you all for making this dream a reality.”
-Evelyn Rivera (Coffee Date)
The full album can either be listened to on the GameChops YouTube channel, or streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, and YouTube Music. Hyrule Café can also be purchased on platforms such as Amazon Music and Beatport. All of Coffee Date’s previous musical work is available on her official Spotify profile.
