New Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Gameplay Showcases Impa in Action, Hinox Boss Fight

To close out today’s Nintendo Treehouse presentation for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, fans were treated to new gameplay demonstrating exactly what Impa is capable of. In this particular segment, Impa takes on the challenge of defeating a Hinox in a set amount of time.
Some of Impa’s abilities are easily compared to those who are members of the Yiga Clan, especially teleportation, hand movements, and the use of seals to teleport. Other than that, she is easily her own unique character, standing out from the Impa that was featured in the first Hyrule Warriors game. The most notable example is that Impa’s two primary weapons are kunai and a ninjatō — a Japanese knife and short sword.
Impa not only uses the ninjatō for her primary attacks, but a part of one of her combos includes summoning a giant frog! She can also throw out multiple kunai at enemies that explode on contact. The Sheikah seals that Impa uses appear to grant different abilities depending on how you use them. One example shows the warrior creating a small vortex, while another grants her ethereal shadow clones.
Similar to Princess Zelda, Impa also has a unique way of using the Sheikah Slate’s Rune abilities as well. Under her special ability meter are three Sheikah symbols, with each one appearing to grant her a different ultimate attack of sorts. One particular attack demonstrates how Impa can summon a giant explosive barrel.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is set to be released on November 20, 2020.
