New Entry in The Legend of Zelda Manga to Release in 2015
Posted on July 02 2015 by Rod Lloyd
A few months ago, we saw the long-awaited reprint of Shotaro Ishinomori’s A Link to the Past graphic novel. This release would have easily satisfied fans of Zelda comics, but it seems there is even more news to get excited about. In a surprising announcement, artist duo behind The Legend of Zelda manga series Akira Himekawa announced that they would return to the series sometime in 2015. While they did not share which Zelda game this new entry will adapt, fans of the series certainly have more to look forward to this year.
Akira Himekawa announced that they have already begun writing the newest entry in their highly-regarded Zelda manga series. While they did not state the specific game they will be adapting, they assured fans that the entry is planned for release in 2015. Nothing more was announced, but they did promise more information is to come at a later date.
It’s difficult to say what game Akira Himekawa plan to adapt. With Tri Force Heroes to release this fall, Nintendo may have commissioned the artists to release a manga adaptation alongside the game. However, the team could possibly tackle previously unvisited games in the series, like Link’s Awakening, The Wind Waker, or Twilight Princess. Even then, the artists could even produce a side story set somewhere else in the series’ canon.
The Legend of Zelda manga series began as an adaptation of Ocarina of Time released in the late 1990’s. Over the next 10 years, Himekawa adapted seven other Zelda titles: Majora’s Mask, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, Four Swords, The Minish Cap, A Link to the Past, and Phantom Hourglass. In 2011, they returned to the manga to release an entry that served as a prequel to Skyward Sword.
What do you hope to see from this new entry in the Zelda manga? Let us know in the comments!
