The 3DS Smash Bros. Final Build Demo event went underway last night in Japan, and one player started a discussion on SmashBoards revealing all of the juicy details. Not everything was available to the players, however. For example, Lucina was not playable, hinting that she is probably an unlockable character. That being said, there was a lot of new information to be shared. While there were no official character reveals, character playability and alternate skins were discussed. One of Zipso’s comments that got us here at Zelda Informer hyped up was the inclusion of an alternate skin for Link.

– link has a costume with like red markings under his eyes. It looks nothing like link… But his eyes are whitened and has red markings and he’s dark colored clothing. There’s also a white and blue link.

Zipzo later confirmed that the skin in the game matched an image of Fierce Deity Link. The event security was also really strict about having phones, or any recording device for that matter, so there has been no visual representation of the confirmation. So far, we have only received the information in the quotation above and cannot confirm if he will be wielding the famous helix-shaped blade. To be honest, an accurate representation of Fierce Deity would be difficult to pull off with Link’s moveset, so I’m excited to see how he plays out once the game releases next week in Japan.

However, this is not the only Zelda news to come out of this discussion. Here are a few other details that Zipso shared from the event.

– Zelda’s new phantom move.

It doesn’t hit a character right up in her grill. The phantom spawns maybe a character away, so if your opponent is right up on you, the phantom will just spawn in front of them and whiff.

– Zelda has a white costume

– Zelda has no alternate costumes, only colors

– There is no island toon link costume.

– toon link has the four swords colors + old style link color, the black with red eyes.

– White tunic and Purple tunic confirmed

– His down air has less recovery frames, but doesn’t have as much knockback.

– Boomerang throwing animation is more reminiscent of how it used to look in 64

So it looks like there are a few additions for characters from the Zelda series in the latest installment of Smash. What do you think about the news? Are you excited to play as Fierce Deity Link? Are you upset that Zelda is not being given the same special treatment? Let us know in the comments below and we will have more news from the event throughout the day.
