Skyward Sword Screens Detail Gear Screen, Item Pouch
Posted on November 05 2011 by Nathanial Rumphol-Janc
See the screen at left? That’s Skyward Sword‘s Gear Screen, where you’ll find info on all your items. Equip items appear in the center circle, while other quest-related stuff appears in the surrounding modules. Perceptive readers can see a spot for the Goddess Sword and various associated quest milestones, your wallet, as well as items you don’t equip the old-fashioned way like the Sailcloth and Digging Gloves.
A leak out of 4chan confirms a number of the items that will fall into these slots…and if you’re curious, the results are posted below, along with a breakdown.
UPDATE: There’s also a shot of the game’s map up to this point. Nothing we haven’t seen before, but it confirms some of the internal divisions within the regions.
This screen seems to have been taken during the Ancient Cistern dungeon, judging by the equip items seen – everything up to the Whip – and the currently-learned songs. At the top-left we see the Goddess Sword in its current form, with three slots corresponding to each of the three goddesses. I’m guessing each of the sword’s “phases” of transformation are tied to these slots.
Below that, we see spots for Heart Pieces and the wallet. Looks like this wallet can hold up to 900 Rupees. On the top-right, there’s a space for the three tablets you collect at the beginning of the game to open the surface portals. Off to the right of that there’s a hexagonal space that we don’t know anything about yet.
Below that is a spot for the harp, which currently has two songs: one related to the Goddess emblems and one to Farore. I’m guessing you need the Farore song to access the Ancient Cistern and upgrade the Goddess Sword, and perhaps the Goddess emblem song is used to give those Skyward Strike crests additional effects…
Below that, we see spaces for all the “items” that aren’t equipped in the usual fashion: the Sailcloth and Digging Gloves are there, along with a third, mystery item. We see a slot for what appears to be Link’s protective earrings as well.
This shot shows the same Gear Screen, but with the Adventure Pouch open instead of the standard items pouch. We see a third stage of the Wooden Shield as well as the mysterious purple shield, two bottles, one filled with an either red or purple potion, two of the “medals,” and a third pouch (bomb bag expansion?). I get the impression that the medals we’re seeing have to do with either health or recovery hearts and raw materials or perhaps even Scrap Shop prices? We’ll get more details about the medals in the game at some point I’m sure.
Check out our Skyward Sword Items & Gear Guide for more info on many of these items!
NOTE: We did not create these screens, so asking us for more info about them isn’t going to get you anywhere. Look for our in-house impressions, videos, and more next week.
