Miyamoto Hints at Amiibo Support for Zelda U

Internet celebrity iJustine managed to sit down with The Legend of Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto, along with translator Bill Trinen, and ask them a couple of questions about upcoming games. After learning more about the size of Zelda U‘s world and how it’ll influence the gameplay, they eventually reached the topic of amiibo support. She asked about how the amiibo would be integrated into the new Star Fox or Zelda games, to which he replied:
“Yeah, I can’t really say just yet, but we do plan on doing something so that people who have amiibo will get some enjoyment out of having amiibo and using them in those games.”
From this we can gather that Zelda U is going to receive amiibo support, but it won’t be anything that’s necessary to enjoy or complete the game, much like in Hyrule Warriors. I’m pretty excited to see what it is these figures will be adding to the game. I’m also curious to see if the game will incorporate the entire amiibo lineup or just a select few. Hopefully we’ll learn more about this sometime soon. In the meantime, why don’t you let us know what you think in the comments below?
