Midna and Princess Zelda are Playable in Hyrule Warriors

Midna and Princess Zelda fans have a new reason to rejoice. Nintendo announced that the regal princess of Hyrule and the mischievous imp princess of the Twilight Realm will appear as playable characters in Hyrule Warriors, the Dynasty Warriors-styled Zelda action game coming to the Wii U. Zelda and Midna’s reveal was already leaked online from Famitsu magazine earlier today, but seeing them in action was still an exciting treat. Zelda was shown wielding a bow to eliminate crowds of enemies, while Midna fought using her flamboyant hair. She even summoned a wolf to ride on, hearkening back to her adventures with Link in Twilight Princess.

Seeing Midna in Hyrule Warriors raises interesting questions regarding when the game fits into Hyrule’s timeline. Up until now it had looked like the game would take place at some point between Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time. Perhaps this is a final sign that the game won’t try to fit into the series’s official chronology? Regardless, finding out how Midna ends up taking part in the game’s plot should prove interesting, to say the least.
