Prominent Nintendo Ambassador and crafter Krystyne (of GandaKris) has released a simple DIY in anticipation of The Legend of Zelda’s 35th Anniversary– DIY decorative clay pots! These particular pots don heart containers, triforces, and a Hylian crest. The only tools needed for this project are flower pots (clay or terra cotta) and vinyl sticker paper featuring whatever design elements you want to decorate them with. Check out how to make this “NintenDIY” in Krystyne’s video.

Basically you just need to find printer-ready vinyl sticker paper, print whatever Zelda iconography you want onto it, cut it out to the best of your ability, and stick it onto your pot. When it comes to intricate designs where a white background may be hard to cut with regular scissors, cut around the general design and place it on the pot before taking an X-acto knife to the remaining undesired parts. Then simply pull off the superfluous pieces and your detailed design remains, sans background. Krystyne provided similar images to those she used on her pots here.

The GandaKris channel has many other Zelda related DIYs for anyone interested in tackling even more quick crafts, including Breath of the Wild inspired arrow pens, a Link’s Awakening Mt. Tamaranch sculpture, and Triforce pinboard art.

What do you think of this simple DIY? What icons or characters from Zelda would you choose to decorate your pot with? Share your thoughts in the comments!
