Majora’s Mask Player Achieves First-Ever 100% Hitless Run Without Shield
Posted on March 08 2024 by Nicole Scott
Gyorg’s name incites some shivers, and Twinmold puts up a monstrous fight of its own. The bosses in Majora’s Mask are debatably some of the toughest in the series, and the puzzles and side quests are ten times as demanding on the ego. Imagine not rolling into any crevices, avoiding every trap, and taking a stand against Majora — all without a lick of damage. Make this task even more intense by filling every corner of your inventory, grabbing Masks, Heart Containers, and Stray Fairies for a true completionist playthrough.
Streamer MajinPhil left no stone unturned. They completed the impossible on March 3rd, 2024, after a mentally-enduring livestream lasting almost ten hours with no breaks. They have long dreamed of achieving a 100% hitless run and have been practicing for months with these rules: no shield-blocking, no glitches, and absolutely no hits from enemies. The celebratory post on X following the run couldn’t adequately convey their excitement:
I FINALLY DID IT!!! WORLDS FIRST MAJORAS MASK 100% NO-HIT RUN. DONE WITHOUT USING ANY GLITCHES, NO TAKING DAMAGE, NO BLOCKING WITH THE SHIELD, NO VOIDING LETS GOOOO I CANT BELIEVE IT pic.twitter.com/w2E6bkYOGK

The idea for the challenge likely began budding in 2021 after MajinPhil did a non-completionist hitless Majora’s Mask playthrough. Don’t worry — Ocarina of Time received the same treatment.
Countless failed attempts didn’t stop them. They even admitted to reaching Majora in a previous nine-hour attempt but died right at the end. Pursuing the goal after this kind of blow is nothing short of extraordinary.
ty for all the congrats on the no-hit run <3 still can’t believe it finally happened haha. was a 10 hour run from start to finish done in one single segment with no breaks and took months to perfect. had previously lost 2 to the final boss after 9 hours in, was devastating lol

MajinPhil’s familiarity with the game may exceed every other Majora’s Mask player. Their intimate knowledge about enemy maneuvering and dodging mechanics would inspire even casual fans. Though pushing yourself to a challenge of this caliber may not be your gaming style, it’s a triumph to see how skilled gamers have become while keeping the memory of a 24-year-old game alive and relevant.
Send your congrats and check out MajinPhil’s other ventures on Twitch, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and X, where randomizers, speedrunning, and more comprise their shenanigans.
