Posted on September 26 2019 by Sean Gadus
The musical community surrounding the Zelda series is one of the most vibrant across the video game scene. Each year there are countless covers and rearrangements of songs being shared online. Whether it is a metal version of “Tal Tal Heights” or an electronic cover of “Mabe Village”, it’s great to know that fans care deeply about the series’ music.
A recent Youtube upload by FreddeGredde, titled “The Legendary Zelda Medley”, includes arrangements of some the series’ most iconic songs. The medley includes old favorites from across the series such as “Zelda’s Lullaby”, “The Dark World”, “Dragon Roost Island”, and many other excellent songs. It also includes some excellent rearrangements of Link’s Awakening songs like “Ballad of the Wind Fish”. It certainly seems perfect for any fan who just picked up the recently released remake on Switch!
This medley is impressively diverse in terms of instrumentation. It features classical instruments like cello, acoustic guitar, and recorder/flute. There are also more contemporary instruments like the electric guitar and a drum set. The instruments are swapped in and out for different themes, allowing the performers to capture the different tones of the music. Overall, the various instruments come together to create a rich tapestry of song!
