“Great Fairy Fountain” is one of the most recognizable songs from the Zelda series. The song first appeared in A Link to The Past as the File Selection song and in the game’s Fairy Fountains. Since its debut, the song has appeared in almost every Zelda game. Outside of games, the theme has appeared on The Game Awards (performed by the band Imagine Dragons), and has consistently featured in the Symphony of The Goddesses concert series.

This rearrangement of “Great Fairy Fountain” by L’Orchestra Cinématique is one of the most grand versions of the song. The arrangement opens with the sound of strings, which is common for many versions of the song. From there, a variety of instruments are added to the arrangement, and the song gradually crescendos until it is booming through your speakers. One of the things that really sets this version apart is the percussion that enters at around the 1:30 mark. Most interpretations of this song have little to no percussion.

Overall, L’Orchestra Cinématique boast some great Zelda arrangements on their YouTube channel that are worth checking out. In addition to the “Great Fairy Fountain” remix, they have also recently produced epic versions of “Midna’s Lament” and “Zelda’s Lullaby.”  While these arrangements are definitely as “epic” as advertised, I do think that they sometimes miss some of the subtlety of the original pieces, but that is largely just a personal preference. You can check out a playlist of their Zelda arrangements here.
