During today’s Nintendo Direct, the long-rumored remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening was finally revealed for the Nintendo Switch. Capping off the presentation, Nintendo released a trailer for a re-imagining of Link’s Game Boy classic that featured gameplay footage and an exceptional looking animated intro sequence. The trailer also gave us our first look at the remake’s art style, which is sure to be a talking point among fans.

Link’s Awakening for Nintendo Switch will feature a cutesy, almost toyetic look, something akin to miniatures or claymation figures. The reveal trailer showed off familiar faces like Marin, BowWow, and the Owl, as well as an assortment of familiar locations from across Koholint Island. And from what we can see, the world of Link’s Awakening has been faithfully recreated, pixel by pixel.

Link’s Awakening for Nintendo Switch will be released in 2019.
