Link Skywalker Stars in “Super Smash Wars 2: The Empire Smashes Back”

James Farr, a YouTube animator, has just released the sequel to his Nintendo/Star Wars mash-up, Super Smash Wars. As in the previous installment, Link Skywalker plays a key role in the story, battling his way through the Nintendo universe to defeat the evil Lord Ganondarth. It is as funny to watch Link in his outer space escapades as it is entertaining to try and identify every possible reference to both Nintendo and Star Wars, so this is definitely worth watching.
Check it out after the jump!
If you want to watch the first Super Smash Wars before this one, make sure to check it out here. You can enjoy both parts of the second video below!
This series is so fantastic. Honestly, I’m no big Star Wars fan, but I remembered enough from the movies to know that these videos use Nintendo material very well as substitutes. Megalegs as AT-AT’s, Donkey Kong as Chewbacca, and obviously, Link and Phantom Ganon as Luke and Vader, just to name a few good ones. I also appreciated how fitting the music that they chose was. Not only did the orchestrated Zelda music go great with the battle scenes, but even all the little sound effects worked great. In all, the quick, funny style of Super Smash Wars is used very well, and I think it’s fair to assume that there will be a third installment, if not, more, considering how the the actual Star Wars movies were made, so get hyped!
How many Zelda references could you pick out from the video, and what did you think of it? Let us know in the comments, and may the Triforce be with you!
