Link and the Broken Vase Comic

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the Zelda series over the years, it’s is that not everything has to make sense. I’m not even referring to the fantasy elements of the games. How often in real life does money pop out of freshly cut grass? In Skyward Sword, why does Link sink in quicksand while the ampilus can walk without a problem and bombs roll safely across? Or, drawing near to the subject of the comic, why do broken vases reappear when you leave an area and then come back? It isn’t as if a vase is able to regrow like the grass and pumpkins. What do witnesses think of pots reappearing? Thanks to Kurama-chan on deviantART, we can see Fledge’s reaction to vases appearing out of thin air. Make the jump to check out the comic below.

There are a few reasons I like this comic. First and foremost, I’m glad that I understood what happened the first time I read it! That’s always a plus. Next, I like Fledge’s reaction. Since he isn’t the most muscular or popular student at the Knight Academy, the things that Link is able to do seem to amaze him, this being no exception. It’s funny how much amusement he gets over the smallest things. The third thing I think is interesting about the comic is the vase placement in the first picture. I don’t know why it was in the middle of the doorway, and it looks like I’ll never find out. Last, I like the rage face at the bottom. If I saw vases appearing out of nowhere, that is exactly what I would be thinking.

How do you like it? What are your favorite things about the comic? What else can you think of that doesn’t make much sense in the series? Post a comment and let us know.
