Japanese Skyward Sword Website Update
Posted on November 03 2011 by Mases Hagopian
The official Japanese Skyward Sword Website has just received their weekly update and have two new areas to showcase. This includes what we’ve long referred to as the Desert Region and its first dungeon. The official names for these areas are Lanayru Desert and the Lanayru Mining Facility. As usual we have the large scene artwork, 4 new videos, and other goodies for you all. Since much of this contains spoilers, I’d advise you to stay away from this news post unless you wanted to be somewhat spoiled. For the rest of you all, make the jump to see all the goodies.
- There are several How To Play videos at the website showcasing the different sword maneuvers.
- There are electric/sand versions of the Toadpoli. We previously new of Dark and Fire Toadpolis. (See Skyward Sword Enemies).
- The name of the Desert Race translates roughly to “Ancient Robot”
- The Double Clawshot seems to be acquired in the Lanayru Desert prior to the dungeon.
- The desert comes alive and becomes colorful when certain switches are turned on.
- New robotic desert race appears with the hit switch and the rest of the colors and green grass of the area
- There are mine carts that Link travels quickly across.
- Link can control the speed of the mine carts that he travels on.
- An overworld boss in the Lanayru Desert is the Mechanized Stalfos looking creature who’s artwork we saw yesterday. (See Enemy Artwork.)
- The blade of his sword spins like a drill and glows with electricity
- Link has the Bow and Arrow at 10 Heart Containers. Could hint to when he acquires it in his quest. (Prior to arriving at the Lanayru Desert).
- The sand in Lanayru Desert acts much like water with sand waterfalls and an old port including boats for crossing the desert
- There is some sort of canon on the boat that Link rides in the water portion of the region.
- Giant one-eyed boss seems to be an overworld boss in the Lanayru Desert, not a dungeon boss.
- There is a Silent Realm area in the Lanayru Desert.
- The Scorpion from the E3 2010 trailer is the boss of the Lanayru Mining Facility.
- The giant scorpion boss will occasionally grab Link in it’s claws, you must shake both the controllers to release the grip
- The three headed snake enemy will regrow it’s heads if Link only cuts off one or two at a time
- The mining facility will include conveyer belts that will have junk on it acting as obstacles that Link must avoid and run past
- There is a new robotic enemy that resembles a small canon that flies by a small propeller
- Scorpions are easily defeated by the gust bellows
- The gust bellows are also used to move the sand on the ground around revealing hidden items underneath or unblock doors
- Link enters the Silent Realm with absolutely no weapons or items
- The Tears of Farore you must collect are indicated by a beam of green light shining into the sky
- There are many small floating watchers wandering around in the Silent Realm shining lanterns on the ground
- If Link steps into their lantern light they will make a loud noise then disappear causing the color to brighten and the music to change then the large sword wielding guardians will run towards Link from every direction
- If Link is hit by the swords of the guardians he will fall to the ground and then wake back up in the entrance
- You will meet another female Knight Academy student dressed in the same color as Link although with a slightly different hat and red hair. She appears to be an adviser or has some form of information giving role
NOTE: More Information coming soon! Stay tuned!
