Japan: Super Smash Bros. Sales Soar, Hyrule Warriors Falls

Well it is official – Super Smash Bros. for 3DS has basically passed 1 million in sales during it’s first week. I can’t say it did this for certain, but since digital sales are not counted in this data it is practically a certainty. Even not counting digital sales, it is the single biggest launch in Smash Bros. history… in Japan. Yesterday we got to see the overall list, but we missed out on hardware along with the exact sales. This time around we have that for you. Naturally this week, 3DS and PS4 sales increased with the release of both Super Smash Bros. and Destiny.

Other notables for Nintendo fans would be that Mario Kart 8 is still in the top 10, while Hyrule Warriors has all but fallen off a cliff – holding on to a top 20 spot at #19. Hyrule Warriors definitely doesn’t appear to have the long term sales potential most Nintendo games do.
