Hyrule Historia reveals a ton of concept art and allusions to the mythos of the Zelda series. As you can see in the image above, they seem to insinuate that in the famous Ocarina of Time, the eponymous ocarina is made from the same material as Skyward Sword‘s Timeshift Stones. This idea isn’t too ludicrous, either—after all, they both have magical properties and the ability to warp time.

Do you think that the idea for the Timeshift Stones came from a feature that Nintendo was unable to implement in Ocarina of Time? It’s interesting to think of what the game would be like if Link used Timeshift Stones to travel in time, rather than the portable ocarina. Perhaps the locations of Timeshift Stones in Ocarina of Time are what later became Sheikah Stones. Have you ever wondered why there are so many of them right outside the Temple of Time? It’s up to you to decide what you think of this theory, but I think we may know the answer.

Hyrula Historia also reveals concept art for both the adult and child versions of Link.
