Hyrule Warriors’ Newest Playable Villains Join The Fray

With Hyrule Warriors out in nearly all territories, it’s a wonder we haven’t run out of new things to discuss regarding the crossover title. Just this past week, Nintendo dropped a surprise on us in the form of DLC characters, and some more perks, coming soon to the game. While those of us who don’t even own the title yet are eager to simply get things started already, it is comforting to see continued effort put into the game post-release, and we finally have a look at how these newest additions will play in the final product.
Although the stream’s quality is rather low (it is taken from a stream shown at this year’s TGS), we can still get a decent idea regarding how these characters will play. Volga demonstrates brute force through both his regular strikes, as well as his incredible transformation into the dragon from which his name comes. He can even take aspects of his dragon form (such as his breath of fire) and use them while still in his warrior shape.
The dark Wizzro, on the other hand, appears to be significantly slower, and relies primarily on magical attacks rather than strikes and blows. With an abundance of dark magic, the sorcerer fires out purple orbs to damage its opponents, finishing them off with a grand summoning of dark spirits similar in design to Wizzro’s regular appearance.
Both these foes turned playable characters look to provide even more interesting options for those who have or are looking to pick up Hyrule Warriors soon. Does one catch your attention more than other? Are you more excited to play as the third villain featured in this download? Or maybe you’re waiting for the really substantial stuff?
