Hyrule Warriors Concept Art
Posted on October 01 2014 by Kev
Now that Hyrule Warriors has been released worldwide, we can all experience what Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have been able to produce. I’m not sure how long the game was actually in development for, but the final product has turned out to be a highly entertaining experience. As always, there were plenty of ideas and concept arts created during the games development and some of them raise questions about what Hyrule Warriors could have been like if things were a little different. Take the jump them to see some of them.
Though there were plenty to chose from, I went with three pieces of concept art that I found to be particularly interesting. The first one is of a weapon I wasn’t exactly enthralled with; the Fire Rod:
It seems as though there were a number of different designs for the rod with some making it look more like a sword or axe. Had these design have been chosen instead, the rod’s abilities could also have been different to better suit the design of the rod. A giant axe of fire would have been pretty impressive to wield.
Next are some of the alternate designs for Ganondorf:
While I’m certainly glad they went with the one they did, each of these designs also has a level of intimidation to them which would have suited the character well. The variety of weapons he is shown wielding could also mean he would have had different combat abilities, like the one with the katana being more about speed and combo damage rather than brute strength. At least they didn’t go with the version with horns. They just look silly!
Finally is one that would have had a huge impact on the game; a female incarnation of Link known as Linkle:
The subject of a female Link has been discussed by fans on many occasions, but it seems as though that was a possibility for Hyrule Warriors. It would certainly be an interesting way to go. I, for one, am not convinced that the dynamics of the game, and franchise would work quite as well.
There are plenty more on the Nintendo Everything website, so be sure to take a look at what other things were considered and let us know what you think of them in the comments below.
