Hidden Treasure in the Woods of Austin
Posted on May 02 2014 by Cassie
It looks like a fellow Zelda fan is ready and willing to make your fandom dreams come true! Imagine walking through the woods and finding, of all things, a treasure chest! But not just any treasure chest, a chest filled with hand-made Zelda jewelry, toys and more! Reddit user evildeadite has been making and distributing these gold mines for over a year in the woods around Austin, Texas and s/he absolutely loves it. These may not be professional and they may look a bit rough from certain angles, but the detail and love put into making these (especially for free!) is a beautiful thing. Hit the jump to see more!
The pictures below are from evildeadite’s imgur album page and show some of the items that are put into the chests, as well as a sneaky picture of a completed chest after it has been placed in the woods.
Each box comes with a congratulatory note.
I don’t know about you guys, but I have a huge amount of respect for this artist’s dedication and personal investment in these pieces. If you send a private message to evildeadite through reddit, you could just land yourself the opportunity to buy one or more of the items listed (especially if, like me, you don’t live in the Austin area). So if you like what you see, give the user a jingle. According to responses on the original post, there might also be an Etsy shop to check out. Whether or not it is still active is not certain, but it’s clear that this fan is a good-hearted artist who just wants to give folks a bit of an adventure.
Tell us how much you want one of these chests in the comments!
