In what may have been the worst-kept secret in the games industry, Japanese game studio Grezzo has been confirmed as a co-developer of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, alongside Nintendo EPD. Switch users who have pre-downloaded the latest Zelda game ahead of its release next week are now able to view the software’s intellectual property notices, which identity Nintendo and Grezzo as the “authors of this software for the purpose of copyright.”

Grezzo’s contributions to Echoes of Wisdom shouldn’t come as a surprise, given the studio developed 2019’s Link’s Awakening remake, as well as Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora’s Mask 3D, Tri Force Heroes, and Four Swords Anniversary Edition. Grezzo has essentially been Nintendo’s go-to partner for the Legend of Zelda series over the past decade, so there wasn’t much doubt that the relationship would continue with Echoes of Wisdom. We’re just glad that we can finally say so with full confidence.

Nintendo has made it a habit in recent years of withholding the identity of the developers behind its first-party titles until release. Most recently, the developers behind Princess Peach: Showtime! and Super Mario RPG were not revealed until those games hit store shelves.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is set to release on September 26th, 2024.
