GenGAME – Zelda Art Style Poll
Posted on January 14 2013 by ralphpotato
One of the most extraordinary things about the Zelda fanbase is the controversy over the art style of the games. The Zelda series is probably one of the most, or even the most, varying in this department of all video game series, and though we can often expect a different style in the next game, we can’t always be so sure of what exactly that style will be. So GenGAME is curious as to what you want, and they’ve setup a poll to track opinions. Hit the jump to vote!
Ever since The Wind Waker released over a decade ago, visual style has been a popular topic for the Zelda franchise. Even though The Wind Waker has some of the most time defying graphics of any game (especially one from 2002), the cel-shaded and ‘toon look of the characters didn’t appeal to many.
Even though many found Twilight Princess’ realistic style graphics satisfying, others still prefer the cel-shaded graphics of The Wind Waker. Even others (meaning myself) find A Link to the Past to be the prime of Zelda graphics, and I was certainly delighted to see Skyward Sword’s colorful graphics emulating A Link to the Past‘s style with more modern graphics.
But what do you think? There’s also the Wii U tech demo graphics, which had a huge positive response among the fans, and even if Nintendo’s art choice for the next game is brilliant, many fans will be disappointed that the demo’s style wasn’t pursued.
If you’d like to weigh in and see others’ opinions, head on over to the GenGAME post and answer their poll! Also feel free to comment here if you have more ideas about what the next Zelda should look like.
