Posted on September 17 2024 by Nicole Scott
Legendary videogame record label GameChops has another installment in its series of Zelda lo-fi albums to please your ears. “Zelda Tape” is a breezy yet immersive 10-track entry into its growing catalog of Zelda albums. It has some modern and classic favorites, but there are a few tracks on here that would surprise even the most seasoned lo-fi connoisseurs. Here’s the tracklist:
- “Riding Day” (from Breath of the Wild)
- “Dark World” (from A Link to the Past)
- “Korok Forest” (from Breath of the Wild)
- “Bamboo Island” (from Skyward Sword)
- “Mipha’s Theme” (from Breath of the Wild)
- “Deku Palace feat. Coffee Date” (from Majora’s Mask)
- “Tatl & Tael” (from Majora’s Mask)
- “Astral Observatory” (from Majora’s Mask)
- “Majora’s Wind Fish” (‘Ballad of the Wind Fish’ from Majora’s Mask)
- “Awaken the Wind Fish” (‘Ballad of the Wind Fish’ from Link’s Awakening)
Every track has the quality we’ve come to know and love from GameChops. “Riding Day” is a perfect opening track to ease you into the peaceful mindset lo-fi is so good at achieving. “Bamboo Island” was one of my favorite inclusions, with the resonant guitar dishing a dose of nostalgia I didn’t know I needed. The guitar production also works to make “Deku Palace feat. Coffee Date” shine, with a violin adding delightful finishing touches. Another winner was “Tatl & Tael.” It has a somber yet comforting atmosphere befitting some of our favorite fairy friends.
