Game Informer: Skyward Sword Impressions Video

Game Informer continues its month of exclusive Zelda coverage with a ten minute long video of some Game Informer staff members discussing their impressions of Skyward Sword. Although there is no new gameplay in the video, these guys have experienced about 6-hours of the game, so their thoughts are definitely worth listening to.

The first thing brought up by the editors in the discussion is how the game is similar to the Wind Waker. They discuss their optimism for the grid like map system in Skyward Sword and how it’s very similar to the Great Sea in the Wind Waker. They also talked about how they happened upon many small islands filled with surprises whether it was finding rupees or playing a mini-game. One thing they pointed out was that the bird Link flies on in Skyward Sword is significantly faster than the boat in the Wind Waker. Also unlike the the boat, you don’t have to change wind direction to get to locations. They also stated their excitement for the fact that traditional wacky Zelda characters are making new appearances in the game.

The staff members continue their thoughts with their exploration of the vast Eldin Volcano. They say how there is much more puzzle solving now and how they had to solve puzzles and search for key shards before even arriving at the actual Fire Temple. At one point in the Fire Temple the editors expressed their frustration for the Lizalfos they encountered. The annoying noise the Lizalfos produced only fueled the players to kill them faster. They continued the discussion talking about little additions, the Fire Temple, the boss battle with Scaldera, and the Silent Realm.

Overall though, if you read the Game Informer article, there isn’t too much new here. However, it’s nice to hear these goodies in video form. Be sure to post your thoughts in the comments below.
