G4’s Videogame Deathmatch Winner: Skyward Sword

After a month of 32 of this year’s greatest games battling it out for the honor of winning this years Videogame Deathmatch voted by you, the people and have finally received news of a winner. This year’s winner of G4’s Best of 2011: Videogame Deatchmatch is none other than, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Skyward Sword defeated Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, a valiant opponent in the final round to claim the win.

Some of you that have been following and also voting will know that it was a long and tough journey for Skyward Sword. Along with defeating Assassin’s Creed, Zelda faced opponents such as, Uncharted 3, Fifa 12, Batman: Arkham City, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. At the beginning of this competition I felt that the odds were very stacked against Skyward Sword seeing as how the side of the bracket it was on seemed to be a lot more competitive. Besides the very prestigious games Zelda went head to head with its side of the bracket also contained games like Portal 2, Rage, and Minecraft but despite all that Skyward Sword remained on top.

After the jump you can see a video of X-Play’s Best of 2011 Awards announcing Skyward Swords accomplishment. Along with the deathmatch win Skyward was also honored with the Best Soundtrack Award.
